An old woman was today charred to death when she tried to douse forest fire near Manjyari village in the district, taking the total number of those killed in such accidents to 8, official sources said here.
Vishala Devi (60) was on her way to her house when she noticed fire in the jungles. She rushed to douse it with water but the fire took her into its grip, killing her on the spot.
On May 2, five people were killed and several others injured when they tried to control the fire in the jungles of Gagwara in Pauri district.
Two injured, who were taken to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi with critical condition, succumbed to their injuries two days later.
