Australia — A VICTORIAN Bushfire Appeal match has seen the Melbourne Victory record a 2-0 win over a Victorian Premier League representative team.

It was a good start to Victory’s pre-season campaign, while for the VPL players it was reward for good form at club level.

Tuesday night’s game also gave the VPL players a chance to put themselves on the A-League radar.

Scores were 0-0 at half-time, with the VPL team unable to capitalise on several first-half opportunities.

But second-half goals to Ney Fabiano and Nathan Elasi gave the Victory an unassailable lead.

Enthusiastic fans created a strong atmosphere, with all profits from the night going towards the victims of Black Saturday.
