USA — A wildfire fueled by dry grass and brush has destroyed three homes and injured one person near Sierra Vista, in southeastern Arizona.
The U.S. Forest Service says the human-caused fire charred 1,500 acres since breaking out on private land about 1 p.m. Tuesday west of Fort Huachuca (wah-CHU’-kuh) and then spreading to Coronado National Forest land.
The Canelo fire was estimated to be 25% contained as of early Wednesday.
One person was airlifted Tuesday to a hospital for treatment of burns, although no other information about the victim was immediately available.
The blaze forced an unknown number of evacuations in a rural subdivision called West Gate, where the three homes were burned, and closed Fort Huachuca’s west gate for several hours Tuesday.
