A brush fire has caused the death of a 91-year-old man who was tending it in Portage County.
Sheriff’s officials said the fire was reported about 2:30 p.m. Monday along state Highway 34 in the town of Eau Pleine, and the initial call indicated someone had serious burns.
The Rudolph Fire Department determined on arrival that the man had died.
He apparently had been tending a small burning pile when he suffered the full body burns.
His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
