Borth Myrtle Beach, SC, USA — A wildfire which ripped through coastal South Carolina last week destroying dozens of homes is now 98% contained.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission said Monday complete containment is expected Tuesday. More firefighters are being allowed to return home from the blaze near North Myrtle Beach.
Commission spokesman Russell Hubright says there are about 80 firefighters mopping up now and about 11 more were to be sent home Monday.
Hubright says the weather forecast is favorable with much higher humidity this week. There’s even a chance of rain later in the week, although Hubright says he’ll believe it when he sees it.
