Australia — Police are hunting heartless criminals who damaged and looted a bushfire-affected home in Chum Creek, stealing copper piping.

Lilydale detectives believe the incident occurred sometime between 20 February and 8 April.

The offenders smashed and removed cement sheeting on the inside and outside walls of the house and stole the copper piping inside.

A hot water service and front gate to the property was also stolen.

Police believe the value of the stolen items to be around $5000.
