Nepal — A spreading bush fire in Nepal’s mountainous northeastern region has killed at least 185 yaks, which are the primary means of transport and the key sources of meat and milk in the area.

Government administrator Tulsi Gautam said the fire has been spreading for nine days in the mountainous area of Sankhuwasabha district.

The area is about 125 miles northeast of the capital, Katmandu.

The area is just east of the Mount Everest region and is accessible only on foot, with no roads for vehicles.
