More than 100 homes evacuated after fire in SW China forest park

China — More than 1,000 police, fire-fighters and residents are fighting a blaze that started in a national forest park in southwest China’s Guizhou Province Wednesday.
The fire broke out at about 2:30 p.m. in Longjiashan National Forest Park in Longli County, 30 kilometers from the provincial capital, Guiyang, a provincial forest fire prevention headquarters official said.
No casualties had been reported. The residents of more than 100homes were evacuated, he said.
The extent of the fire was still unclear, he said.
The forest park, which covers 6,733 hectares, was ratified as a national forest park in December 2006.
The provincial forest fire prevention headquarters is investigating the cause of the fire.
