USA — A brush fire along the Norfolk Southern train tracks in Wyomissing forced crews to close the westbound lanes of Penn Avenue for about an hour Monday night, fire officials said.
No one was injured in the 7 p.m. fire, which burned about a 100-square-foot section of brush on the south side of the tracks near Clayton Avenue, according to Wyomissing Fire Commissioner Bruce E. Longenecker.
No buildings were damaged, and Norfolk Southern slowed trains in the area for about an hour while firefighters extinguished the fire, he said.
Longenecker said sparks from a train likely ignited the fire. He said another brush fire occurred about the same time on tracks in Spring Township.
