Australia — Three firefighters were injured yesterday as they battled fires in the Dandenongs.

The Country Fire Authority firefighters were injured when their tanker was engulfed by flames.

The firefighters, who were based at Scoresby, received minor burns in the blaze, which destroyed their tanker.

One of the firefighters was taken to hospital and remained in a stable condition last night.

Another three firefighters from Upper Ferntree Gully were lucky to escape uninjured when their truck caught alight in the same blaze.

It was a horror day for the CFA, with another firefighter injured on his way to help fight the blaze.

The firefighter was involved in a motorbike accident en route to the fire and was rushed to hospital.
He was later released in a stable condition.

CFA spokeswoman Jane Auchettl said an investigation into the incidents would be undertaken.

“All our safety measures are put in place and implemented,” she told the Herald Sun last night.

“At this stage we do not know what happened or why, all we can hope is that no other firefighters are injured this bushfire season.”
