Man dies after Southeast Austin grass fire

USA — Austin police say a man who was badly burned in a brush fire in Southeast Austin has died.

It happened at Frontier Valley and Riverside Drive around 9:30 a.m. Friday. Fire crews went there to put out a grass fire when they found the man who had been camping in the area.

Austin fire officials say the 53-year-old Hispanic man, whose name was not released, suffered third degree burns over 90 percent of his body.

STARFlight crews took the man directly to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

Foul play is not suspected in the fire.
