USA — Investigators made a disturbing discovery after a man was arrested in the Pisgah National Forest last month. His campsite was littered with ammunition and explosives.
The site is near Asheville in the Pink Beds hiking area.
Rangers say they couldn’t be sure how much of the explosives were at the site and have come up with a novel way to get rid of it: Fire.
They’re going to set a forest fire and burn the entire area to set off any ammunition or explosives they didn’t recover. They plan to burn up to 400 acres in all.
The area has been closed to the public since the man’s arrest.
