Greece — Firefighters struggled in their attempts Thursday to contain a blaze that started a day earlier in the Kamiros region of Greece, authorities said.
Fire crews have been battling the fire on the island of Rhodes since Wednesday, but firefighting aircraft have been limited in their efforts by strong winds in the area, the Athens News Agency said.
The area is under a state of emergency ordered by the civil protection general secretariat.
Authorities told the news agency the fire had already consumed nearly 6 square miles of brushland and forest.
