Azerbaijan — The Ministry of Environment & Natural Resources of Azerbaijan continues task-oriented measures aimed at preventing forest fire hazard in the country.
The Ministry informs that fire danger in forests and vegetation cover not included in State Forest Fund has increased because of hot and rainless weather that has been observed over the last few days in Azerbaijan
With this purpose we have set up duty brigades equipped with technical facilities to conduct clarification work among farmers and take measures on creation of fire lines on the forest territory, the Ministry reports.
A result is substantial decrease of forest fires compared to the previous few years.
According to the MENR, every year 20 million hectares of forests is destroyed around the world following fires.
