Turkey — One person is now known to have died in a forest fire in Turkey which devastated villages just 40 kilometres from its main tourist beaches.
Two people were reported missing after going back into their house to try to save their possessions. Others returned to find their livestock dead and crops destroyed.
Ten thousand hectares of forest in the Turkish region of Antalya have been lost. It is the worst fire ever to hit the area.
Heavy winds and high temperatures made it extremely hard for firefighters to put out the blaze. Turkeys forestry commission called the fire a catastrophe.
