Forest fire still spreading – 49 evacuated

The forest fire in Froland, in the county of Aust-Agder was still raging out of control on Wednesday morning. Altogether 49 persons were evacuated during the night, in addition to the 18 evacuated earlier.

A crew of around 100 persons were still battling the fire in the morninghours, trying to keep the flames away from homes.

Altogether 250 acres of forest and at least 10 cabins have been lost inthe fire.

The firefighters on Tuesday afternoon managed to save the 150-year old churchat the hamlet of Mykland, which was still completely surrounded by thefierce fire Wednesday morning.

In Raade, in the county of Oestfold, the 20 persons who were evacuated onMonday, have now been allowed to return to their homes, but it is expected thatit will take another couple of days before the fire there is completely put out,NRK reports.

So far there are no reports of injuries in any of the fires.
