The fire boss accused of negligence in the deaths of four people in a Washington forest fire made a deal with federal prosecutors in Spokane.

Ellreese Daniels pleaded guilty today in federal court to two counts of making false statements to investigators.

The 47-year-old Lake Wenatchee man had been charged with seven counts of making false statements and four counts of involuntary manslaughter.

He lied to officials investigating the Thirtymile Fire that trapped firefighters six years ago near Winthrop.
