Australia — A bushfire in Perth’s north is threatening lives and property, fire and rescue services say.

The Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) has battled two bushfires in Perth today.

The first, in Perth’s southern suburbs is now under control but a second blaze in Carabooda, is heading for homes on Perth’s northern outskirts.

FESA has advised residents in Kardoorup Road, Emerald Drive, Pipidinny Road and Bernard Road South, in Carabooda, to prepare for the passage of a bushfire in the semi-rural area.

Residents who have not made the necessary preparations or believe they may not cope with the stress of the fire would improve their safety by leaving their homes now, FESA said in a statement.

Three sheds in the area have been lost to fire and residents have been asked not to enter the fire ground because of dangerous conditions and aerial water bombing efforts.

A police spokeswoman said Wanneroo Road had been closed in both directions between Kardoorup Road and Pipidinny Road.
