Australia — The death of a young Tasmanian forestry worker after the east coast bush fires last year has been described as a freak accident.

Tom Orr was killed at Mathinna while mopping after the bushfires 14 months ago.

The 19-year-old from Lebrina was driving a Forestry Tasmania 4-wheel-drive.

It had come to a stop when a tree fell on the vehicle – killing him instantly.

An inquest into his death has been held at St Helens today.

The Workplace Standards investigator, Peter Rigby, said in an affidavit, that Mr Orr’s death was ‘freakish’ and ‘not foreseeable’.

The Coroner, Rod Chandler is expected to deliver his findings next week.
