Brush fire season is back

Monroe County, USA — The loss of snow cover, lack of rain, and still-brown vegetation adds up to the annual spring brush fire danger.  Several fires were reported.

Among the bigger ones were fires in Smithfield, Pocono and Tobyhanna townships.  Most of the fires were contained before they caused any injuries or damaged structures.

Occasional rain is expected tomorrow through the end of the week, and that should ease the danger.
