Australia — Firefighters have contained a blaze in Yellagonga Regional Park in Joondalup.

More than 60 firefighters had been battling the blaze since 1am. It burnt about 20ha of bushland.

A Fire and Emergency Services Authority spokeswoman told that the fire was now under control but firefighters would remain at the scene most of the day.

Twenty-one fire appliances and water bombing helicopters have been at the scene.

Fire authorities believe the blaze was deliberately lit.

A section of Lakeside Drive remains closed and residents in the area are advised to continue to keep windows and doors closed evaporative air conditioners turned off.

Meanwhile, the Arson Squad is investigating yesterday’s bushfire in the southern suburb of Forrestdale, which at one point threatened about 10 homes.

The fire started about 3pm and burnt about 30ha between Nicholson and Oxley roads. It was brought under control late last night.
