Medina, Australia — Aerial waterbombing is being used to fight a bushfire at Medina, south of Perth, where ember attacks are threatening homes,

The fire was reported to the Fire and Emergency Services Authority about 3.50pm today.

Firefighters from five stations were working to put the fire out, near Bingfield Road West in Medina, west of Kwinana.

“Two helitac water bombing helicopters have also been mobilised to assist ground crews,” FESA said.

“The fire has so far burnt through approximately three hectares of bushland.”

Nearby residents should close all doors and windows, turn off evaporative airconditioners and prepare to implement their bushfire action plan.

A section of Thomas Road near the fire has been closed. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
