USA — Two teens have been charged with arson in connection to multiple brushfires that burned several wooded acres off Center Street.

The boys, whose names were not released, are in their early teens and werearrested and charged last week, said Detective Ken Schilling. They are accusedof lighting six fires in the area of Dump Road, an unpaved road that intersectsCenter Street, on both March 3 and 5, Schilling said.

The juveniles were released from custody after being issued the arson charges,police said.

The investigation into the brush fires is separate from another arson case inthe township, which focuses on the destruction of four homes and a boat. All ofthose fires were set in a 10-day span beginning Feb. 20.

Those fires have been ruled suspicious, and a joint investigation continuesbetween the Ocean County fire marshal and prosecutor’s offices to establish alink between them.

No one has been injured in any of the fires.
