Forestblaze in Honduras kills 8, injures 2

Honduras — A raging forest fire in Honduras has claimed thelives of eight firefighters and injured two others, the country’s military saidMonday.

The tragedy occurred when wind direction suddenly changed asthe firefighters were fighting the blaze.

The charred bodies of the firefighters, four soldiers andfour local residents, were found Monday at the fire site on a mountain near thecapital Tegucigalpa, the Honduran Public Ministry said

Honduran President Manuel Zelaya sent condolences to thefamilies of the victims.

The Public Ministry has launched an investigation on whetherthe fire-fighting organization should be held responsible for the incident.
