USA — More than 100,000 households that may be at risk of bushfires around the state will soon receive a free fire safety DVD – Living on the Edge. CFA, supported by RACV Insurance, has produced the nine-minute DVD, which provides practical advice on how to deal with the threat of fire and prepare a bushfire survival plan.
It also looks at personal safety and wellbeing including how to protect yourself from radiant heat, wear appropriate clothing and make sure you are psychologically and emotionally prepared to deal with a bushfire.
CFA has identified Victorian households that would benefit most from the DVD. Living on the Edge will be distributed across urban/rural interfaces across Melbourne and provincial centres.
These councils define themselves as 30 per cent urban and 70 per cent rural, and have accounted for 46 per cent of Victoria’s population growth over the past five years.
Residents in areas not receiving copies of the DVD can view it below. Copies will also be available from selected RACV retail shops from mid-February.
