Australia — Manna gum forest in the south-east of South Australia willbecome the new home for koalas who lost their habitat in Kangaroo Island’sbushfires last December.

Forty koalas have been moved this week and another 40 will be introduced totheir new habitat next week.

The fires wiped out about 5 per cent of their Island habitat.

The Department for Environment and Heritage says the koalas had been at riskof starvation.
