Australia — Bushfires in the Perth hills and south of the city have threatened homes.

The Fire and Emergency Service Authority said a blaze in Parkerville, near Devon and Hill roads, had threatened homes. The fire is believed to be a re-ignition of a blaze that recently ripped through the leafy hills suburb.

Aerial water bombers have been deployed to help firefighters based on the ground.

A short time ago, FESA said the fire had been contained.

A second fire in the southern suburb of Mandogalup was threatening the Thomsons Lake Nature Reserve shortly before 5pm. Aerial water bombers have also been deployed to help with suppression efforts.

Residents in the area were warned to prepare for the passage of the blaze. By 7.15pm, the fire had been contained.

The temperature shortly after 3pm was 41.3C. Shortly after 5.30pm the temperature was still 37C.
