Australia — New South Wales fire fighting capabilities have been bolstered with the arrival of a new skycrane heavy helicopter.
The new skycrane heavy helicopter named Shania Crane replaces Elvis in the battle against bushfires.
It holds 9,000 litres of water and has the capacity to fill up in under a minute and will spearhead the NSW aerial fire fighting resources this season.
Rural Fire services Commissioner Shane Fitzsimons says water bombing aircrafts are vital.
Aircraft assets are just another tool in the tool box for fire fighting across the landscape.
With summer starting tomorrow, Premier Morris Iemma says NSW is ready for the bushfire season ahead.
