Jammu, India — A large numberof trees have been gutted in a fire that broke out in Kishtwar hill forest area,officials said on Wednesday.
Due to extreme dryconditions, forest fire, which started three days back in Beilasa, Paddar andThakria forest belts of Kishtwar district, has engulfed trees in a large area ofthe forest, they said.
“Trees worthcrores of rupees have been destroyed,” they said.
Forest officialsand Wild Life department have not yet reached the spot as the area was veryremote and not well connected, they said.
The fire hasreached close to Thakriae and Shanna villages in the Kishtwar and the failure ofauthorities to control it has developed fear among people, they said.
