Australia — Fire crews are working to defend a number of houses under threatfrom a bushfire burning on the Sunshine Coast.

A fire broke out in the Teewah National Park at North Shore, near Noosa, atabout 1.30pm (AEST), and gusty south-easterly winds have pushed the fire towardsproperties on Teewah Beach Road, a Queensland Fire and Rescue spokesman said.

Ten fire crews are on site and firefighters have successfully defendedproperties from the flames.

However, the fire was posing a potential threat to up to six furtherproperties, the spokesman said.

The fire is burning in swampland making access difficult for fire crews. Upto 200 hectares of land has been burnt out by the fire.
