USA — Burnrning log cars on a Norfolk-Southern freighttrain sparked at least a half dozen brush fires this afternoon in CampbellCounty.
The rail cars that caught fire were carrying logs.
Crews spent several hours hosing down the burning logs after the train detached the cars near downtown Brookneal. The brush fires consumed about forty acres of woodland near the tracks between Brookneal and Long Island. No homes or other buildings were threatened.
