Sun Valley, Idaho USA — WoodRiver Insurance announced today that Safeco has donated $15,000 to the WildlandFirefighter Foundation in Boise, Idaho.
Safecos check to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation was presented by Safecoagent Greg Bloomfield of Wood River Insurance, Inc. in Hailey, Idaho, at theSeptember 29 Kick Ash Bash featuring Bruce Willis, Carole King, and theSteve Miller Band. Bloomfield nominated the Wildland Firefighter Foundation fora grant through Safecos Agent Giving Program.
The Wildland Firefighter Foundation supports families of firefighters killedin the line of duty and injured firefighters and their families, saidBloomfield. I thought a grant for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation was afitting way to thank the heroic firefighters and rescue crews who battled tosave our town and the surrounding Sun Valley community.
We are grateful for the extraordinary efforts of the firefighters who earlierthis month helped contain the Castle Rock Fire in Ketchum/Sun Valley,Idaho,” said Virginia Anderson, President of the Safeco Foundation.
Before being contained on September 4, the Castle Rock Fire burned 48,520 acresin Blaine County and Ketchum, Idaho, forcing government officials to issueevacuation orders to about 2,500 homes.
At its fiercest, the fire demanded the attention of 1,700 firefighters,many working 16-hour shifts, and was considered the nations priority wildfire,added Safecos Anderson. Thanks to the courageous and tireless efforts offire and rescue crews, no lives or structures were lost during the three-weekblaze. Safeco is grateful to Greg Bloomfield and Wood River Insurance fornominating this organization for Safeco support.
