The ACT Supreme Court has cleared the way for the Australian National University to seek more money in damages over property destroyed in the 2003 Canberra bushfire.
The ANU’s been granted permission to pursue legal action against its insurance broker AON.
The University’s lawyers claim the brokers failed to ensure the university’s assets, including the Mount Stromlo observatory, were adequately protected.
Previous claims against the insurance company were successful and now ANU wants damages from their broker to help pay for rebuilding the observatory.
