Fatal Truck Crash Closes Portion Of I-95

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A truck caught fire after crashing Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 95 southbound near Route 123.
The crash happened at about 2 p.m. at the Gordon Boulevard overpass. The truck crashed into the right shoulder and burst into flames, authorities said. The driver of the truck, which was hauling a military-issued gun, was killed.
The crash caused residual brush fires next to the road.
Two of the southbound lanes of I-95 have reopened. The HOV lanes were affected but reopened before 3 p.m. HOV restrictions were lifted south of Duke Street on Interstate 395 and I-95 while the southbound lanes of I-95. Traffic was diverted to Route 1.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
Prince William County Fire and Rescue, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and Virginia State Police responded. Bridge inspectors were called to inspect the Route 123 bride over I-95.
