USA — Smoke and embers from a massive out-of-control forest fire near SuncorEnergys oilsands plant in northern Alberta are blowing into Fort McMurray.
The MacKay River fire is burning about 25 kilometres north of the city andcovers about 150 square kilometres.
Alberta Environment officials say people with respiratory problems are beingadvised to stay indoors.
The fire is not threatening any communities or industrial sites, but travel onthe road that leads to the Petro-Canada oilsands plant has been restricted.
More than 140 firefighters are battling the blaze supported by heavy equipment,air tankers and helicopters.
The fire threat in the region runs from very high to extreme.
