La Crosse,WI, USA — An Osakis man died today frominjuries he suffered when he fell into a grass fire the day before.
Todd County authorities say 92-year-old Harry Rutten diedat Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
The grass fire was reported just before 4:30 p.m.yesterday.
Todd County Sheriff Peter Mikkelson says a Department ofNatural Resources conservation officer, Jeff Johanson, spotted the fire and wentto check on it. He found that Rutten had fallen into the fire and could not getup.
Johanson pulled Rutten to the edge of the field and outof the fire.
Rutten received severe burns over most of his body, whileJohanson was treated for burns on his hands.
