South Africa — Workers in the area were treated for smoke inhalationWednesday after a large bush fire raged at Paarden Eiland, but there were noserious injuries.
Fire control station commander Theo Layne said the fire, which started at about11am, burnt for several hours before being brought under control late onWednesday.
Layne said five fire tenders, one water tender and two helicopters had beendeployed to douse the flames.
While the fire was burning, thick smoke hung over the industrial area for mostof the day.
No property was damaged, Layne said.
