Bracks unveils bushfire recovery package

Victoria, Australia — The Victorian Government hasannounced it will spend $138 million to help communities recover from the summerbushfires.
The bushfires burnt more than 1 million hectares acrossthe state.
Premier Steve Bracks chose the fire affected north-easttownship of Whitfield to announce the new funding.
“There’s an enormous task to do, obviously therecovery both in tourism and infrastructure, in rebuilding communities,” hesaid.
The Government will spend $24 million on rebuilding roads,bridges and walking tracks.
The Country Fire Authority (CFA) and the State EmergencyService (SES) will both get funding boosts worth more than $30 million.
There will also be funding for local businesses, thetourism industry and for land recovery projects.
