Australia — Firefighters were kept busy fighting six fires burning in andaround the Toolangi State Forest, northeast of Melbourne, yesterday.
The fires, caused by lightning on Saturday night, have burnt more than 170ha ofpublic land.
Department of Sustainability and Environment state duty officer AndrewGraystone said most of the fires would be contained overnight.
But he said the biggest bushfire, a 150ha blaze in the Murrindindi district,would not be contained until at least lunchtime today.
“That one will expand to 400ha with back-burning operations,” hesaid.
“There’s no private property being threatened by any of the fires.”
