USA — The Glacier County Community Wildfire Protection Plan has beencompleted in draft form and is available to the public for review and comment atthe locations below until March 30:
Glacier County Library in Cut Bank;
Browning Town Hall;
Blackfeet Tribal Headquarters;
Leaning Tree Café in Duck Lake;
Browning Post Office;
East Glacier Park Community Hall and Library.
The Glacier County Community Wildfire Protection Plan includes risk analysis atthe community level with predictive models for where fires are likely to igniteand where they are likely to spread once ignited. The purpose of the GlacierCounty Community Wildfire Protection Plan is to reduce losses due to wildfires,establish mitigation priorities, strategically locate and plan mitigationprojects, and protect Glacier County residents, structure, infrastructure,economy, and way of life.
The coordination for this effort is being provided by the Bureau of LandManagement and North Central Montana RC&D in cooperation with the GlacierCounty Commissioners and Northwest Management, Inc. The committee includes ruraland wildland fire districts, land managers, city and county elected officials,agency representatives, community organizations, and many others.
