Australia — Arson has been ruled out as thecause of one of the three fires near Heywood on Sunday.
A fire that burnt out 1.2 hectares on Blackwoods Road near Hotspur isbelieved to have started when a haystack spontaneously combusted.

This haystack fire near Hotspur is believed to have been caused by spontaneous combustion.

The fire was not on Blackwoods Road in the Cobboboonee Forest, as incorrectly stated in yesterday’s Standard.
But fire investigators are still looking into fires in the Cobboboonee Forest on Boiler Swamp Road and between Drumborg and Heywood.
It is suspected both may have been deliberately lit.
About six CFA and Department of Sustainability and Environment crews attended the Drumborg-Heywood fire yesterday to mop up.
Two tankers were also sent to Hotspur to monitor the haystack. Fire investigators from Portland police, the CFA and the DSE visited the Drumborg-Heywood and Boiler Swamp Road fires yesterday.
CFA region four operations manager Peter Novotny said the fires would be monitored.
