Australia — The Federal Government will provide cash payments to peoplewhose homes were destroyed in the Western Australian fires earlier this month.
Adults will receive $1,000 each and $400 will be available for each eligiblechild.
People who are entitled to the assistance can apply immediately throughCentrelink.
The Prime Minister says the support will be in addition to the normalarrangements for natural disaster relief.
John Howard says he is committed to working with the Western AustralianGovernment to support the ongoing relief and recovery effort.
