Australia — Authorities are calling for public assistance to find a firebugwho has struck in the Pinjarra area, south of Perth.
The Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) says aninvestigation has discovered an arsonist lit a series of fires near the townabout 5pm AWDT on Friday.
FESA fire investigation officer Phil Cribb says the fireswere quickly extinguished but authorities are worried the offender may strikeagain.
He says anyone who may have seen anything suspicious inthe Oakley Road or Williams-Pinjarra Road areas on Friday afternoon should callpolice.
“Significant rewards are available during thebushfire emergency period of up to $200,000 leading to a conviction,” hesaid.
“So if anyone’s seen anything they didn’t thinklooked quite right please call Crime Stoppers and that may lead to the arsonsquad identifying the person lighting these fires.”
