USA — A salt marsh grass fire that burned 50-60 acres will likely beextinguished by the high tide Tuesday morning, Suisun Fire Protection DistrictBattalion Chief Ron Glantz said.
Glantz said the fire began around 8:45 p.m. Monday and came close to some homesand an apartment complex in Suisun City.
No structures were burned, Glantz said.
The fire started along a railroad track and there are transient encampments inthe area, Glantz said. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
“I don’t think it was caused by a train,” Glantz said.
Crews are still monitoring the fire but Glantz said firefighters will allow thehigh tide to extinguish it.
About 40-50 firefighters from Suisun City, Fairfield, Cordelia and Montezumafire departments assisted the Suisun Fire Protection District with the blaze.Crews remained on the scene all night.
