Australia — Fire fighters in Western Australia are battling several blazesaround Perth.14 homes have been destroyed in a fire south of the city.
Besides destroying the houses at Dwellingup, the town’s power, telephones and water supply have been cut.Meanwhile, a blaze that was threatening homes in the Perth Hills has been brought under control.
Allen Gale from WA Fire and Emergency Services says there’s currently no danger of ember attack but firefighters will remain vigilant to make sure it doesn’t flare up again.
And in a separate blaze at Toodyay, north east of Perth, a 26 year old school teacher died when she tried to flee a farmhouse threatened by fire.
