Malaysia urges Indonesia to ratify regional haze agreement

Persekutuan, Malaysia — Helpless against the yearly visit of the haze, Malaysia is urging Indonesia to ratify the Asean Transboundary Haze Agreement.
Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid said Indonesia was the only one among the 10 Asean nations to have delayed ratification of the treaty, which was approved in 2002 and came into force in November 2003.
Without their ratification, we cannot progress to take more detailed and concrete steps against the haze, Azmi saidtoday.
