Boise, ID, USA — If you look out your back window and see the foothills instead of traffic, you might want to consider attending a conference in Boise next week.
For the first time ever, fire planners will meet with emergency workers, elected officials, and homeowners to talk about ways to protect communities from wildfire.
Experts say many Idahoans are already working hard to get rid of the hazardous fuels around their homes, but there is still a long way to go.
“I think a lot of people don’t know there are a lot of simple affordable steps homeowners can take and that’s picking the right vegetation and keeping it green long and maintaining it throughout the summer,” said BLM Fire Mitigation & Education coordinator John Skinner.
The conference will run Tuesday, Sept 25 – Wednesday, Sept 26 at the Holiday Inn near the Boise airport.
