Istanbul, Turkey — A raging fire has destroyed nearly 100,000 acres of forest in the southern Turkish province of Antalya.
The fire erupted in a hilly region situated in the National Park in the town of Kas on Saturday.
Only four firefighting helicopters could intervene in the blazes as there is not any land entrance to the region. Nearly 100,000 acres of forest were already burnt.
Thick smoke hampered the effectiveness of the helicopters.
Local officials said that extinguishing the fire would take two days since the firefighters could not reach the region due to the hard topography.
The wind has also been hampering the efforts to bring the fire under control.
