Pinar del Río, Cuba, May 11 (Prensa Latina) The fire that was extended for more than five days in forests of San Juan and Martinez and Guane is been extinguished and controlled, official sources reported.

The fire devoured 1400 hectares, which are watched by forest workers and serviceman of Rangers Corp, which put out the active focus in the area affected by the fire.

Pedro Pablo Dominguez, director of the Forest Company of Pinar del Rio, highlighted the speed with which were mobilized men and resources to fight a fire that could have catastrophic problems.

Around 1 300 workers of several branches of agriculture, supported by heavy equipments, airplanes and helicopters participated in the extinction of the fire.

In the next days a specialist team will evaluate the looses and will determine the actions to take in the affectedareas.
