USA — Smoke from a grass fire in Piti has promoted the early release of students of neighboring Jose Rios Middle School. According to Guam Public School System spokesman Gerry Cruz, the grass fire is located about 100 yards away from the school’s gymnasium.
Bus transportation for other schools, says Cruz, will be affected by the early release of the school. “Because of safety concerns, students at Jose Rios will be picked up first,” he explained, adding, “this will cause a delay in the pickup of students from John F. Kennedy High School and George Washington High School.”
Parents of JFK and GW students are advised that they can pickup their students immediately.
